Indoor Climbing Kit List
When climbing indoors all members are encouraged to bring with them the following kit; providing that they own it. Harnesses and helmets can be provided for 10 members. Belay Plates, HMS Screw-gate karabiner and a 50m rope can be provided for 5 pairs of climbers. 1. Rock shoes 2. Harness 3. Chalk bag 4. Belay Plate (or equivalent) 5. HMS Screw-gate karabiner 6. >50m dynamic climbing rope 7. Rucksack 8. Appropriate clothing (i.e. not jeans!) 9. Quick draw set (5-10) Please note: Members are not required to have to buy any of the above equipment. It is up to you weather you want to or not.
Outdoor Climbing Kit List
When climbing outdoors members are required to bring the following essential kit: 1. Rucksack 2. Appropriate clothing based on the weather report (i.e. waterproofs if its raining, light clothing if its hot) 3. Food for the duration of the trip 4. Decent footwear (for approach and descents) 5. Water 6. Money (for the pub!) 7. Mobile phone The above equipment is highly recommended to be brought by all members to any outdoor sessions.
The following kit list is based on whether members have access to the kit. Again the club can provide harness, helmets, ropes, belay plates and karabiners. Some equipment in this list will only be needed if the committee members deem it necessary before the trip. 1. Rock shoes 2. Harness 3. Chalk bag 4. >50m dynamic climbing rope 5. Belay plate and karabiner 6. Lead Rack (contents of which depends on weather sport, trad or multi pitch climbing) 7. Change of clothing 8. Map and compass 9. Guide book 10. Personal survival kit 11. Knife 12. Torch 13. Tent and sleeping gear 14. Stove, gas and cutlery/pans
Before any trip we will let you know exactly what you will need depending on where we are going. There may be some equipment on this list which might be needed depending on the duration and location of the trip; again you will be told what you need prior to the trip. If you have any question regarding equipment please ask el Pres or any other commitee member.
