What you'll need
Equipment
Luckily, unlike most other sports clubs in the MMSU, you don't require that much equipment to go walking. You've heard all about the fun parts of the club, now, unfortunately, comes the boring but necessary bit! Although we want everybody to have a great time in our club we also want everybody to do it safely.

We do have one rule with regards to clothing if you want to go on anything other than the Casual walk - NO jeans or trainers! Just ask one of the Committee why, for an in depth explanation! To be as safe as possible on the hills, especially on the more difficult walks, we recommend that each of you has the relevant equipment: Therefore we do recommend the following:
A good pair of waterproof boots (if your unsure what exactly to look for, again just ask any of the commitee) and a thick pair of socks
A waterproof jacket (and possibly trousers) because lets face it we are in England
Warm clothing (hat, gloves, extra layer, etc.) its all about layers people
A packed lunch with lots to drink for the day (no alcohol-just ask rick about the effects of walking on beer fuel.....not pretty!!!)
Change of clothing (in case it rains a lot) you can leave this in the van whilst we do the walk if you wish.
Beer money (vital!!!!!) as we end every walk in the local country pub! (just for a change)

Not to scare you all but people do die each year on the hills, mountains and fells around the uk. The weather can turn from beautiful skies to hellish in under 30 mins so better to be prepared.
Saftey
Please be aware that all our walk leaders have a responsibility for the safety of the people on the walk. We will sometimes ask you to change course or stop walking. Please remember that this is only for your own safety and we do not wish to spoil your day! Note: We can have quite bad weather on some of our walks and it is up to yourself to be prepared.
All our leaders carry emergency equipment to cope with any problems but we would prefer not to have to use it. That said on with the fun!!!
