The Canoe Club meets on Wednesday nights at the Manchester Aquatics Centre near The Footage on Oxford Road. Pool fees are £4 and we use the training pool in the basement. Stairs down to it are found at the end of the corridor immediately in front of you upon going through the turnstile.
Anyone is welcome and past experience is not required as many of the more experienced paddlers are willing to help.
We have an extensive trip list throughout the year which includes Britain's largest participation canoeing event, the Tyne Tour, which takes place in November. We also have regular trips to Burrs, Goyt and Mile End Mill in Wales.
As well as going out for a few drinks after pool sessions the club goes out for a meal (usually a curry) at Christmas and Easter. This year we are also provided with a meal on a weekly basis. These will be free and have been kindly offered to us as part of the sponsorship deal with The Phoenix. All you need to do is send a text to Andy (Chairman) with your order; meaty or vegetarian.
Additional Information
Didsbury Sports Centre is where we usually meet up to go on river trips. Occasionally there is the option of getting picked up at the Union. You can get there on the numbers 42 and 142 buses. For a map of Didsbury Campus, click here.
