Student Officer Blogs

So Iv been the MMUnion president for a month now! (blimey that's gone quick!) but I reckon it's about time I told you what Iv been doing and what myself and my brilliant colleagues have been working on and how this year is going to pan out! I apologise if this is choc full of teasers which I can't say anything extra on right now! Trust me I'm incredibly excited about this year ahead of it! It's going to be one of our best ones yet! 

So what have we been doing?!? Training, training, training and the occasional beer! It's been a tough couple of weeks for me going from Student Activities Man to Monsieur Le President. I can only imagine what it's been like for Michael, Katie and Hannah! They seem to be keeping up the pace of officer life! We are now a team of fully training student representatives! Only thing left to do is for you all to come back and join us for the most wonderful time of the year... Welcome Week 2012! Ooooof have we got some brilliant stuff for you! Bigger, better, bigger again and even more reps waiting to welcome all our students new and old back to Manchester and Crewe, back to Uni and back to MMUnion! 

This year is full of excitement, our new forum structures which will give students the doorway to make e changes and have your say on your university,  your union and your community... Make sure you keep your eyes and ears peeled for them both at the union and online!  

Huge progress on improving the MMUnion building in Manchester, I know it's been a long time coming, but I made a promise during the elections to get as much done on this as I possibly can before my year is up and I intend on sticking to that! It's going to be big!

 Perhaps the most important one for us this year though is that as an officer team we're promising more engagement from us. This year all 6 of us are going to be out and about at your campus, at your course meetings, and in your social spaces, chatting, taking and asking you how your doing, what's going on with you! We don't want to be stuck in an office and more than the next student, so we aren't going to be! 

I'm not going to finish this in the traditional 'Get Involved Guys, It's Going To Be Amazing!!!' cos here at MMU not everyone has the time or feel they can benefit from being involved in the Union. my take on this year is, it's time for MMUnion to come get involved with you and it's our job to make sure you get everything you possibly can out of your experience at MMUnion. 

And with me as your captain...what can go wrong? Right?  

I cannot wait to meet each and everyone of you! When you find your results on that magical day when your a levels arrive and your find your place at MMU confirmed why not say hi to your officers on Twitter  drop us an email and holla at us on Facebook! 

If this is the first thing you read about MMUnion then please get swept up in my whirlpool of excitement and dive right in, cos if you don't you'll be caught up anyway! (ps I did physical geography degree, get use to my geographical and meteorological analogies plenty more where that came from!)
