MMUnion’s President is the lead officer at MMUnion, who co-ordinates and champions our work to make the whole of MMU better for students.
The President leads MMUnion’s officers and staff in delivering an organisation that really makes a different to students’ lives. They are the chief representative of students at MMU and they lead our public image. The President is also a governor of the university and has the power to influence top level decisions on behalf of you, the student. They chair meetings, encourage others and achieve success.
MMUnion rules say the President is responsible for:-

representing student views and interests to the university, locally and nationally
-
taking a lead role in representing and promoting MMUnion and MMU students within the wider student movement
-
leading on work and relationships with the press and media
-
consulting with students to inform our plans for the future
-
maintaining day-to-day liaison with the Chief Executive Officer on matters affecting the work of MMUnion
-
liaising with senior management to ensure effective planning of MMUnion’s services and activities
-
leading, supporting and line-managing the rest of the sabbatical officers as is appropriate

Leading the delegation from MMUnion to NUS Conference
The Vice President (Cheshire) leads on issues that affect students specifically at MMU Cheshire. They represent students’ concerns in education, community, welfare and all other aspects of their experience, working in partnership with other appropriate officers. The Vice President (Cheshire) deputises for the President and is also a governor of the university, with the ability to influence top level decisions on behalf of the students.
MMUnion rules say the Vice President (Cheshire) is responsible for:

leading the work of MMUnion at MMU Cheshire

Co-ordinating and supporting the officer and representatives at MMU Cheshire as appropriate

acting as the lead officer in day-to-day representation of MMUnion to MMU Cheshire and other university Committees as may be required

deputising and carrying out the duties and functions of the President in their absence
MMUnion’s Vice President (Education) leads to make teaching, learning and research at MMU better for students.
It’s their job to talk to students about how MMU is helping them to do well. They lead the Course Rep system and make sure that the university always knows what students want and need from their education. They decide what the most important issues in education are and campaign to improve them.
MMUnion rules say the Vice President (Education) is responsible for:

consulting students, both formally and informally, on their academic experience and aspiration, so as to inform MMUnion’s plans for the future

representing students’ views on their academic experiences to secure high quality academic provision in the university
-
leading campaigns on academic aspects within the university – for example on fair access or fair funding for education
-
inputting into the university academic strategy at all levels and overseeing and promoting participation in the Course Representative Structure
MMUnion’s Vice President (Community) leads our efforts to make students active citizens who participate in, and shape their communities. The Vice President (Community) is the face of MMU students for the local community, local councils and national government. They will work with many other organisations to help students be active and get involved in their communities, and issues they care about.
MMUnion rules say the Vice President (Community) is responsible for:-

leading initiatives in the interest of student community and MMUnion, in partnership with key university departments

representing issues affecting all aspects of student life in the community and working with other officers to bring about positive change

developing positive community relations and promoting students within their communities
-
maintaining strong links with community partners and representing students on community forums and other community groups

representing students in halls, resident and private homes
MMUnion’s Vice Presidents (Student Activities Manchester) co-ordinates our work to make the student experience about fun and development, at MMU in Manchester.
The Vice President (Student Activities Manchester) leads the development and organising activities for MMUnion. They decide the direction of our student activities work and promote the value of participation in diverse development activities across the student community and to the university.
MMUnion rules say the Vice President (Student Activities Manchester) is responsible for:-

developing sports clubs, societies, campaign groups, volunteer groups or collectives with training, campaigns and support
-
promoting social, cultural, educational, religious and political activities in Manchester
-
leading the development of partnerships both within the university and other organisations to further develop students and add value to their student experience
-
developing a strong organising culture in student groups
-
representing student activities to the university and to local and national organisations as appropriate
