Welcome Week Reps

Help make Welcome Week 2012 the BEST one yet!
 
After the great success of Welcome Week 2011, we are looking to recruit over 50 Welcome Week Reps again  this year. This will give you the opportunity to help shape the university experiences of more than 8,000 fresher's, and be paid to do so!

Help to make one of the biggest and most memorable weeks of a student’s life brilliant, by being on hand to motivate as well as guide all new MMU students.

You will be part of a key team that help move students into new halls of residence over the weekend of 15th/16th September 2012, and meet new people, work hard, and have lots of fun along the way!

Working as part of a team you will encourage new students to make the most out of their first week of University by getting them involved in events and activities taking place and helping to make their first impression of MMU an amazing one. You may also:
 

  • Be the first point of contact for any questions about uni and the union
  • Co-ordinate and help organise and deliver welcome week events and activities
  • Help run the fresher's fair
  • Help promote the welcome week programme
  • Help new students move into halls and give them any help and advice they need

Reps need to have an outgoing personality and good communication skills. Just turn up to the recruitment day to find out more. The recruitment days will be as follows:

Manchester -  Monday 28th May
2 sessions: 12pm - 2pm and 2.30pm - 4.30pm - please attend one only.
Conference Suite, 3rd floor, MMUnion, Oxford Road.

Crewe - Tuesday 29th May
2 sessions: 12pm - 2pm and 2.30pm - 4.30pm - please attend one only.

You MUST be available to work part-time between 15th September and 1st October 2012, which may include day, evenings and weekends. There will also be a MANDATORY  training session in September 2012 for all those successful. Successful candidates will be informed about this training date nearer to the time and MUST attend.

STUDENT VOICE CO-ORDINATOR X 2
£6.81 per hour (inc. Holiday Pay)
(Pay award due 1st September 2012)
Fixed Term Contract (36 weeks)

Working within the Student Voice Team, your role will be to assist the work of the Student Voice Department to improve communication and to act as the link between MMUnion and the Course Representatives across four faculties. Your role will include managing volunteers and conducting exact and credible research to identify what students need the university to do to make the learning experience better. The Student Voice Co-ordinators will be responsible for recruiting, training, developing, supporting and motivating this team of activists, to produce results for students.

We are seeking two current or recently graduated MMU students; with knowledge and an interest in higher education institutions and issues affecting students. Independent and self reliant; the successful candidates will be able to work without close supervision, manage their working time effectively and prioritise projects appropriately.

This is an exciting opportunity for two dynamic, driven individuals to really make their mark and create positive change for students at MMU in a creative and supportive environment.

The post holder will be required to work for 36 weeks of the academic year 2012/13 broadly based around term time.

The role is expected to commence in August 2012.
