What is MMU-sical Theatre?
MMU-sical Theatre is a succesful society which began in February 2011 putting on its first show in May 2011. We originally began as just a group of friends who got together because they had a passion to practice 'musical theatre' whilst studying at uni. This small group of friends has now developed into a society which managed to raise over £200 for charity in their first show. The show is a good starting point for us, and recieved alot of positive feedback from audience members, we feel we can get better and better from this.

What have we done this year?
'This year we aim to perform in two shows, the first happening close to christmas which will be a variety showcase, the other being a full scale musical in the summer term.'
The Showcase: Just before Christmas we performed 'We Wish you a Memo Christmas' which was a musical showcase revolving around the theme of the office christmas party. Within this show we performed numbers such as '9to5' from the musical '9to5', as-well as the 'Time Warp', 'What a Feeling', 'Life of the Party', 'Elaborate Lives' and much much more. The money helped raise funds for our summer production which we have now claimed the rights for. The musical we will be performing is 'The Wedding Singer'
'The Wedding Singer': This summer we will be bringing the popular musical 'The Wedding Singer' to the university campus here in Crewe. The musical is based on the 1998's film of the same name starring many famous faces such as Adam Sandler, and Drew Barrymore. It's a very lively and energetic show which all of the committee and cast are very excited to rehearse and eventually perform.

Who can join?
Absolutely anyone! This society is for those that have a passion for musical theatre, those who just want to give it a go and those who want to have fun. We are a mixed ability group open to anyone who wishes to join. There are no auditions and no restrictions to join, we believe that everyone from any course should have the opportunity to experience this and everyone should therefore be able to enjoy it.
Many of the cast members commented last year that a key reason they improved in these disciplines was a result of the friendly and caring environment we provided. We absolutely understand that some of the cast members may never have done this style of performance before so we make sure we dont leave anyone behind and continue to practice until it is something you do feel comfortable with and more to the point, something you enjoy doing!
This is our main aim... 'your enjoyment!'
