Our Goals:
- As a group we aim to hold at least two concerts* per academic year (of which, all our proceeds go to a recognised charity).

F.A.Q
- What kind of music do you sing?
We do a wide variety of music not associating ourselves to any specific genre. However each concert usually does have a certain theme which we spend the majority of the term working towards. Previous themes have been 1960s, Gospel, 1970s, R&B and Pop Anthems and Christmas.
- Are you a faith-based choir?
Although many of the committee's background is in singing and teaching gospel music are not a faith-based. We're just about the music & the good times. But we don'y shy away from any type of music!*
- Who can join?
Anyone of any ability is welcome to join, whether you just sing in the shower or if you put Beyonce to shame.
- How do I join?
Just come along to a session and get involved! Feel free to email our Vice-Chair ademholness@hotmail.co.uk before to let us know your coming or just pop along.
- When do you meet?
We have sessions in the Axis Arts Centre Building every Wednesday from 2pm.
- When are your main performances?
We have two main concerts every academic year. A major Christmas performance at the end of Term 1 in December. Then either Spring or Summer Concert at the end of Term 2 or the middle of Term 3.
- Is it free to join?
Like most university clubs and societies, as of september 2011, all of the New Melodians members will be required to pay full annual membership. However we are committed to being one of the most affordable societies on campus. We offer a taster session to everyone, however only registered members are invited to partake in regular sessions, trips and performances.
- I Just found out about the choir, but it's half-way through the term, can I still join?
Where have you been hiding!? It is obviously better to join at the start of the term so that you don't struggle with learning material, but you can still be invited for a taster session. Email our Vice-Chair to sort one out!
- I play an instrument but don't sing, do you have a band?
The New Melodians do have a band. It comprises of Drums, Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Lead Electric Guitar, Piano & Saxophone. Although all positions are currently filled we are always looking for more instrumentalists to collaborate with.
Although not all members of the band sing with the choir, the majority do and all are welcome.
