 MMU Advocacy and Mooting Society
This is one of the subgroups of The Law Society and encourages members to develop both their written and oral skills. It affords anyone aspiring to be an advocate opportunities to practice their skills informally and through competitions both within the University and Nationwide.  By researching a moot or advocacy problem your knowledge of the subject matter will increase and you will gain an understanding of how to apply the law to practical situations.

The advocacy and mooting society is for all students – it doesn’t matter what year or course you are studying, nor your public speaking experience.  The workshops that we run provide a safe place to practice and more importantly to make mistakes and learn.  However there are opportunities for students with the academic ability and mooting and advocacy skills to represent the University in National competitions, which is both an excellent opportunity and good fun.  Don’t worry if you have never done mooting or advocacy before, or if you have missed some workshops – just turn up.  If you have any questions – contact the chair on advocacyandmootingsociety.mmu@googlemail.com
