About Jiu Jitsu
Jiu Jitsu is the martial art developed by the ancient Samurai to defeat armed and unarmed opponents using techniques including strikes, throws and joint locks to subdue their attackers. Our club practises a modernised version of the art, known as 'Jitsu'. As well as these self defence techniques, you can expect to learn and improve movement, balance, and how to fall safely.
Our club has strong ties with the University of Manchester's Jitsu club, with many joint socials taking place between them; and if you join our club you are automatically able to train at any TJF registered club (including the University of Manchester). For a full list of those clubs see The Jitsu Foundation website.
Jitsu is suitable for almost everyone, turn up to any of our sessions in some loose clothing (tracksuit bottoms and an old t-shirt are ideal and we train barefoot) and have a go for free.
Training Times
Tuesdays & Thursdays 20:00 - 22:15 at the Sugden Centre, Activity Room 1 (follow the hall round, take the last set of stairs on the left before the gym, and turn left at the top).
