Men's Basketball

MMU Men's Basketball 1st Team received the AU award for the BEST TEAM OF THE YEAR (2010-2011) of all the Manchester Metropolitan University sports teams.

Liam Gibbons also received the award for BEST CLUB OFFICER OF THE YEAR (2010-2011).

After a fantastic season that has seen Men's first team winning their league (2A), being promoted to 1A and also reaching the BUCS Cup Final, MMU MEN'S BASKETBALL Club is currently working for the next season, in order to improve even more what has been achieved as University Sport Club.

In the Annual General Meeting, people have voted for the new MMU MEN'S BASKETBALL Club Committee (2011-2012):

The Mets basketball team is all about having a good time, great banter and even better competition. At present we have 2 teams all playing in BUCS. Having 2 teams means we can accommodate a large number of people and we also welcome players of every level, even if you’re a total newcomer or a seasoned pro. We might consider the option of having also a 3rd team this year, and that will depend on the number of people we will recruit at the start of the new academic year.

TRIALS will be held at Sudgen Sport Center, next to the students' union, Friday the 23rd Sept from 6.30 to 8.30 pm. Come and sign yourself up at our stand at the Freshers' Fair on Wed 21st and Thurs 22nd. The cost for taking part at trials is just £3. 

From the next season, training session will take place on a Monday (8-10 pm) and Friday night (5-7 pm) for the 1st Team at Didsbury campus. Second Team will have training on Thursday night (7-9 pm) at Didsbury campus. More details are coming soon about the third team training session.

It's easy to get there all you need to do is to take either the 142 or the 42 to EAST didsbury and ask the driver for the didsbury campus if you need help in finding this there are maps in the students union on the second floor in the sports office.

Training takes place in the Didsbury sports campus for those of you who don’t know how to get there we will sort something to get you all there. Unless you are 100% certain you know how to get there please do not go by yourself, it is a nightmare to find.
