“my only regret from first year was not joining a sports team ... but I fixed that and now play rugby and have a whole new group of friends to go out with!”  -

Come and meet the Ladies rugby team, the girliest rugby team you will ever play with, fake tanning is encouraged but not essential! Don’t be put off by perceptions about rugby being rough and only for tall strong ladies, come join us for just one training session and try it out... a lot of our team are very small! You won’t be made to tackle and won’t be tackled by anyone until you are ready and we have been taught how to do it properly and safely. We can honestly say 80% of our girls last year had never played before and most didn’t and still don’t know the rules... which make for some very funny rugby! Your captains for this year will be Emma F and Rosa A.

Uni is an amazing experience but make it the best time of your life and join a team and a large part of being on one of the sports teams are the socials. The Social Secretaries this year will be Ali.P and Lauren.W – who are planning a messy and fun year of nights and days out and team bonding.

Not only is sport, especially rugby a great way to meet new people it’s also a great way to meet people on different courses and in different years. This is a good way to network and have friends who can help you and offer advice on all aspects of University, for example; Sarah Rundle (Secretary this year) has just finished her placement year, Danni Ball (Vice-Chair) is a foreign student. As if that’s not exciting enough at Easter all the sports teams go on tour... let me tell you it’s the best week of your life – sun sand sangria singing dancing on tables, bumper cars playing games chants and so, so much more!

All sizes, abilities, and fitness are welcome; regardless of your Uni course, currently we have a range from languages, business, tourism and management to fashion students. MMU Women’s Rugby 2010/2011 – add/comment/message any of the ladies and we will all happy to help and answer questions; from Uni courses, accommodation and moving in, where to go out, where to shop, best fake tan products, etc we’re a friendly bunch and we know how exciting but nervous starting Uni can be!!

We will be at the Freshers Fair on the 22 and 23^th of September some come find us... we have some fun things planned for our stall! Come along to the Freshers fair you get given loads of free things and Dominoes were there last year giving out free pizza, you get club memberships as well as seeing the different sports teams and societies!
