Student Voice is about listening to you, understanding the issues (and how they affect you) and making the University see how things could be done better.
The main way MMUnion listens to the Student Voice is through Course Reps and Union run meetings such as the Education Sub Group and Student Shout Outs.

There are over 800 course representatives at MMU, whose job it is to ensure that members of academic staff take into account the concerns and needs of students. If you have a problem to do with your course or department or idea to make a positive change you can speak to your course representative about it.Most courses will have at least one course rep who attends University meetings and acts as the first line of student representation within the University.
Course reps are fundamental in ensuring the student voice is not only heard, but listened to as well! These views can be anything to do with your experience within your faculty or department including your teaching and learning experience, the availability of resources such as the library right through to the pastoral support you receive from your personal tutors.

The Education Sub Group and the student shout out meetings are your chance to tell us what you think about your academic experience and create policy to act upon. They are also a way that course reps feed back to us, but are open to all students who wish to come.
Last year thanks to meetings such as these a whole number of changes were created to better the student experience; including 24 hour library opening hours during the exam period, improved learning facilities and social work spaces being created in Hollings and Didsbury.
The first Education Sub Group of this year is taking place on Thursday 20th October at 12 Noon in the Conference Suite at MMUnion. For more information please contact s.u.reps@mmu.ac.uk.
