Cheshire intersite bus and car parking
Students at MMU Cheshire came to us concerned about the changes that had been made to the frequency of the intersite bus and car parking restrictions due to the MMU Green Travel Plan. MMUnion support these changes but only when they do not impact on the quality of your student experience.
How has it affected you?
Some of you felt the university had mis-led you on the ease of getting between campuses:
Getting to lectures - you have told us you are arriving to lectures late, and are having to wait a long time for a bus to arrive.
Access to sports facilities - some of you are also finding it hard to use and access Alsager's sports facilities.
Car parking - some of you have been refused a car parking permit when this is essential for you to attend university.
You have also raised that you are unhappy the university did not consult you before these changes were made.
So what did MMUnion Cheshire do?
In October, we visited you in halls, got you to fill out questionnaires, ran forums and listened to your views. We took these, along with you petition, to the University to make them aware of the impact their changes have had on you.
Since then the university has added an extra bus in the morning to help you arrive for first lectures on time, and allowed certain parking at Alsager parking to those students who need it.
