course rep training

This year we have slightly changed the way that we will be training Course Reps. We are offering basic online training, that we ask all Course Reps to fulfil and is an essential requirement of receiving your certificate at the end of the year.

You can take our online training right now by clicking here.

Later in the term we will then be carrying out advanced face to face Course Rep training that we ask you all to attend. Dates for which will be available soon.

Please note that we will run the advanced training sessions across the majority of MMU sites. Sessions will be at different times during the day, including some evening and weekend sessions.

We hope this makes it as easy as possible for you to attend a session, you only need to attend once and you can go to any of those that are offered, it does not have to be held at a site that you study at, it just needs to be the easiest one possible for you to attend. This training is brand new, so it is important that even if a rep was elected or selected last year and attended training that they attend again.

Where programmes or Course Reps have different or special needs for training, such as an ideal location or a need to have training before placements start, we’d be grateful if you could contact s.u.reps@mmu.ac.uk to outline your needs which we should, in most cases, be able to accommodate.

course rep certificates

All Course Reps will have the opportunity to gain a certificate, in recognition of their time, effort and skills developed through doing the role.

To be eligible to gain a certificate you will need to have:

~ completed online Course Rep training and sent us back a feedback form

~ attended at least one Education Sub Group

~ taken part in at least one Student Shout Out

~ attended at least two Programme Committees

MMUnion will keep a record of Course Reps who have completed training and attended the Education Sub Groups and Student Shout Outs.

To prove attendance at Programme Committees you need to fill out our MMUnion Course Rep Meeting Report Form, which you can download here.

You then need to either email this to s.u.reps@mmu.ac.uk or hand it in at the reception of the Students' Union in either Manchester or Cheshire.
