MMUnion Trusteeship

MMUnion is entering a dramatic and exciting period of its evolutionary process. We are looking to recruit individuals with drive and vision to help shape the future and lead our organisation forward, working with the elected student officers. 

MMUnion is at the core of the student experience for all students at MMU, through its representation and advice duties to the activities and commercial services it offers. Our students study from the centre of Manchester out to South Manchester at Didsbury and down as far as the faculty of MMU Cheshire some 40 miles south of the city centre at Crewe and Alsager. MMU also has a number of full and part-time distance learning students both in the UK and internationally which are all covered under MMUnion’s very wide, all-encompassing umbrella. 

The student body itself has changed significantly over the last twenty years, which brings new challenges to a representative organisation like MMUnion. Numerous issues such as funding and spending as well as the many individual needs of students must be properly considered so that today’s students are represented fairly and appropriately both now and in the future. MMUnion must work effectively for all MMU students to ensure the University fully acknowledges the capacity and abilities of MMUnion.

The future of MMU lies in the move from the current seven campuses to four, these being based at the centre of Manchester, Didsbury, Hulme and Crewe. The development of these campuses and the amalgamation of the other campuses into these bring significant challenges to the Elected Student Executive Officers and staff members at MMUnion.
