Commercial Services
MMUnion’s Commercial Services Department is responsible for bars, shops, entertainment, catering and conferences.
Daytime
The range of commercial services provided continues to maintain MMUnion as a daytime social focus for students studying at MMU. These comprise two catering outlets, three retail outlets as well as a bar and nightclub venue.
The main shop is situated at 99 Oxford Road and is supported by retail outlets at both Crewe and Alsager sites. The shops sell a wide range of student provisions including stationery, artists’ materials, confectionary, newspapers and magazines and University and Union memorabilia such as ties, tops and hoodies.
Night time
On the first floor is K2 – a 900-capacity nightclub with two bars that plays host to a variety of night time events. We run weekly club nights throughout the academic year, in addition to special ‘one-off’ and monthly events. We also work with a large number of external promoters who hire our facilities.
On Floor 2 is MancUnion Bar – a 450-capacity bar. MancUnion Bar is open 7 days a week and offers excellent quality well-priced food in addition to being a place to drink and watch any of 6 plasma screens, or enjoy the varied entertainments programme.
The venue operations are a successful social and entertainment provision for students and non-students alike, operating to 2am on most nights. All customers help to provide an active and busy environment. We take pride in offering high standards of service and equally high standards of product quality. The Students’ Union faces competition from national operators on the high street and is committed to meeting, and where possible, exceeding the levels of service on offer to customers elsewhere.
