Trustees need certain qualities such as integrity and commitment. However, every trustee need not have the full range of skills and experience ideally required by the Trustee Board of MMUnion.

Part One - Background & Experience
 

Senior management experience, preferably gained at board level within a large complex charity or campaigning organisation, government, higher education or relevant parts of the private sector. 

Evidence of substantial knowledge base and personal credibility in one or more of the following: 

• Financial management and/or accountancy
• Strategic marketing, PR or fundraising
• Voluntary sector governance
• Higher Education
• Managing major change programmes

Evidence of an understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship 

An affinity with the vision, values and work of MMUnion

Part Two - Knowledge & Skill
 

Evidence of:

• a commitment to MMUnion’s democratic structures and principles 
• a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort 
• a willingness to maximise personal development opportunities 
• good independent judgement 
• an ability to think creatively 
• a willingness to speak their mind 
• an ability to work effectively as a member of a team
