Fairtrade Fortnight (28 Feb - 13 March 2011)

Each year MMUnion has special stalls and promotions for fair-trade products and we are working hard to further develop our partnership with MMU on the Fairtrade University accreditation.

Last year saw the UK making over one million and one swaps to Fairtrade products during Fairtrade Fortnight. This was a loud and proud message that the people of Britain want a fair deal for the producers behind the products they buy.

This year, MMUnion want to take help to take the story further and explain why. By showing off about Fairtrade, we'll be explaining the importance of Fairtrade to its producers, about the benefits of receiving a Fairtrade premium for their local communities and securing a more stable future.

Love Food, Hate Waste

Love Food Hate Waste is the ‘Waste Not Want Not’ of the modern day, providing handy tips, advice and recipes for leftovers to help everyone waste less food.

6.7 million tonnes of food is thrown away by households in the UK every year.

Reducing food waste is a major issue and not just about good food going to waste; wasting food costs the average family £420 a year and has serious environmental implications too.

If we all stop wasting food that could have been eaten, the CO2 impact would be the equivalent of taking 1 in 5 cars off the road.
